Maryland SoccerPlex to Implement SSCI’s Continual Background Monitoring Process

Maryland SoccerPlex will be the first in Maryland to utilize cutting edge technology for coach, volunteer and employee background checks.

Boyds, Md. (June 20, 2016) – The Maryland SoccerPlex is pleased to announce it has become the first organization of its kind in the state of Maryland to implement a continual monitoring program for coach, volunteer, and employee background checks.  After an extensive review of available vendors and products, SSCI was selected based upon the strength of its ongoing monthly monitoring and notification process.

“The security and safety of our youth players has always been our top priority and when it came to something as important as background checks we felt SSCI’s new technology will provide our patrons added peace of mind ,” said Maryland SoccerPlex Executive Director Trish Heffelfinger. “We were using the latest technology for our annual background checks on employees, volunteers and coaches but it only provided a snapshot at that moment. We were actively looking for a nationwide continual monitoring system and the new technology SSCI’s was testing fit our needs.”

While the continual monitoring program SSCI is rolling out is impressive, it has always been a leader in background checks because of the comprehensive approach they take. Many companies rely on database only searches while SSCI utilizes the state repositories and county courthouses to indentify the most current and accurate criminal data. There is also a review of the Sex Offender Registries in all 50 states and these cases will also be confirmed through the jurisdiction where the crime was committed.

“The Maryland SoccerPlex is meeting and exceeding the National Recreation and Park Background Screening Guidelines by implementing this new technology and will be the first organization in the State of Maryland to do so,” said SSCI’s Director of Sales & Marketing Chris Goodman. “There is an additional fee for this highly advanced post screening solution that monitors enrolled applicants on an ongoing basis, alerting SSCI to new criminal record information as well as changes to existing records.”

About SSCI

SSCI is America’s #1 Choice in Parks and Recreation Background Screening. Our parks and recreation background screening initiative has effectively set the standard for the national volunteer workforce. It is very important to understand that this standard includes the use of multiple sources of criminal record information and would never accept the less expensive, less comprehensive database only criminal record search. Additionally, this background screening standard has been adopted and implemented by more than 1,200 city and county agencies, countless youth sports organizations, and most of the National Governing Bodies of the United States Olympic Committee.
